In the context of its new IPR strategy, the European Commission has published a proposal for a new regulation on customs. This new regulation is aimed at improving the current legal framework in order to “strengthen the enforcement of intellectual property rights, as well as to ensure appropriate legal clarity, thereby taking into account developments in the economic, commercial and legal areas.” Once adopted by the European Parliament and the Council, Regulation (EC) No 1383/2003 that is in force since 1 July 2004 should be repealed.
